Andrea Brudente (38) had a miscarriage in Malta. It was not complete, which is why she wanted to abort the baby. However, Malta’s laws did not allow her to do so.

This endangered her life: an abortion is required if the fetus is not possible before the 24th week. This avoids the risk of maternal infection and death. The infection travels through the damaged tissue to the uterus and then into the patient’s bloodstream – leading to death.
