U.S. intelligence acknowledges that the origin of Govt-19 can never be traced. In a statement released Friday, the US Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) has denied allegations that the virus was created as a biological weapon. However, there are two plausible hypotheses about the outbreak of the epidemic that hit the world: natural origin or laboratory leak. But apparently all experts and analysts cannot agree on which of the two hypotheses is more likely – or whether the question of origin can ever be clarified.
Beijing shows cold shoulder
As long as China remains silent on such investigations, humanity will never know the origin of Kovit-19: “China’s cooperation will be necessary to come to a final assessment of the origin of Kovit-19,” he says. China responded immediately with harsh criticism to the report: “The United States’ approach to relying on its intelligence apparatus instead of scientists to detect the origins of Govt-19 is a complete political farce,” said Liu Pengui, a spokeswoman for the Chinese embassy in Washington. Rather, it would be an obstacle for the United States to explore the reasons for that. The report “only undermines scientific research on the origin and hinders global efforts to identify the source of the virus,” Liu said.
The Chinese pretend not to block such investigations, but the original question is unnecessarily politicized: “We support science-based efforts to detect the origin of the virus and will continue to actively support it,” said embassy spokesman Liu. “However, we are strongly opposed to any attempt to politicize the issue.”

On the other hand, the US report is open to “reviewing the findings if further evidence emerges”. China’s blocking stance, on the other hand, raises further questions.
