Is Putin Proclaiming a New Soviet Union?
Surprisingly, the Russian Duma meets on Friday. The Kremlin-affiliated Telegram channel reports that Putin wants to found a new Soviet Union.

What will Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin (69) do? On Friday, Russia’s parliament, the Duma, will convene at short notice for an extraordinary session in Moscow. Agenda items are not yet known. So far there has been talk of general mobilization, an official declaration of war, and a reorganization of the government.
Now the Russian Telegram channel “General SVR” brings a new opportunity. A Kremlin-affiliated channel writes that President Putin wants to declare a new Soviet Union. First Member States: Russia, Belarus and captured territories of Ukraine.
Putin has already signed a top-secret deal with former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych, 72. Yanukovych, who was ousted during pro-Western protests in Kiev in 2014, will later be appointed as the “legal” president of Ukraine’s regions.

If Putin’s plans fail, the government will be reshuffled
On Friday, Putin, Yanukovych and Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko, 67, are due to meet and submit the deal to the Duma for approval. If everything goes according to plan, the document could certainly be approved by the Duma and the Federation Council in a few days.
It is unclear whether all this will happen and whether Lukashenko will give his consent to integration with the Soviet Union. “General SVR” writes that if Putin’s plans still explode, there may be a reorganization in the government.
Mobilization is not possible
Government restructuring is also a topic in other Russian media. Themoscowtimes.com writes that on Friday, MPs will elect Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manduro (53) as Deputy Prime Minister. This step is important because there is a high demand for mobilization solutions in the industrial sector.
Themoscowtimes.com does not believe there will be a mobilization or a declaration of war on Friday, as the Duma does not have the power to send troops abroad or declare martial law or a state of emergency.
